STURT will take a psychological edge into its elimination final with Woodville-West Torrens this weekend after flattening the Eagles by 38 points today.
With their season on the line, the Double Blues were ruthless and beat the Eagles all over the ground at Woodville Oval.
The visitors took a while to find their range - kicking 10 consecutive behinds to start the game - but had the game in the bag by half time when they led by 28 points with heavy rain setting in.
''These boys are pretty hungry to play finals football and wanted to come here and win,'' Sturt coach Luke Norman said.
''I thought we did the simple things better than our opposition today, they were hitting in hard as well and it was good we did the same.''
The Eagles lacked confidence and when they did get the footy they burnt it with poor-kicking.
Woodville-West Torrens coach Michael Godden labelled his team's performance ''atrocious'' and said its ''basic decision-making'' had completely gone following losses to North Adelaide and Sturt.
''We have to fix it pretty quickly. The last two weeks have been pretty ordinary but full credit to Sturt they were definitely the more desperate side on the day,'' Godden said.
But with finals comes a whole new ball game and both coaches are likely to field different sides for the re-match at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.
Sturt could regain Toby Thurstans and Matthew Jaensch and the Eagles Adam Grocke - who missed yesterday with a back complaint - Scott Welsh and Trent Hentshel.
