10 @ Commander Centre Oval In 2012

16 November 2011

In a double dose of good news for the club, it was announced today that we have been successful in our bid to play 10 homes games at Unley Oval in 2012 - and that Commander Centre will continue with the naming rights of our famous ground.

The club had previously only been able, through the lease with Unley Council, to play 9 games per season. This was based on the old regime of 9 home games and one neutral game as programmed by the SANFL.

The club sought a change to 10 games per season given Adelaide Oval is no longer available to play night games due to the proposed upgrade.

Sturt CEO Matt Benson was upbeat about the announcement........

"The is really great news for the club. Unley Oval is the heart of Sturt, so to have 10 home games and the continuation of the Commander Centre naming rights sponsorship confirmed at the same time is a great kick start to season 2012" Benson commented.

Malcolm Purdie from Commander Centre negotiated the deal with Sturt in 2011 as naming rights sponsor, and they are delighted to stay on board.

"We have throughly enjoyed our association with the Double Blues. The profile and exposure generated by the naming rights of this iconic ground has been really good for promoting our business." Malcolm added.
